Home Education
The Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) Home Education Program is proud to be working with parents of students in grades 1-12 who have opted to pursue a parent-directed home education program that adheres to the provincial Home Education Regulation.
Parent-directed home education allows parents maximum input into their children's program design and maximum flexibility to determine educational focus including resource selection, instructional methods and assessments. The parent takes on the sole responsibility of teaching their child(ren) with a Peace Wapiti Public School Division facilitator providing program support.
If you are just beginning your journey into parent-directed home education, we recommend reading the Alberta Education Handbook for a comprehensive review of program options. This document, and many more important links, can be found on the Alberta Government Home Education website.
Registration for the upcoming school year is now open. As a new family, to register in the PWPSD parent-directed Home Education program, please complete the online registration form indicating the Peace Academy of Virtual Education as your school choice. One of our facilitators will contact you with further information.
For additional information on this program, please see the introduction letter of our PWPSD Home Education Coordinator, and follow us on Facebook.
